The historic Fox Theatre is one of Atlanta’s premiere venues for live entertainment. The Fox’s 4,678 seat theatre is booked more than 300 performances a year ranging from Broadway to rock to comedy to movies.

The floor in the Egyptian Ballroom was originally hardwood.  The hard surface made the ballroom uncomfortably loud and very difficult to use for events.  In 1999 the Fox decided to install carpet to reduce the volume of noise in the room.  Ulster Carpets designed the carpet to match the aesthetic and historic integrity of the room. 

The Restoration Department is currently replacing the carpet in the Egyptian Ballroom and took these photos of the original hardwood flooring. 

The Restoration team is always planning ahead.  They are taking steps to preserve the original floor in case we decide to revisit the original look of the Egyptian Ballroom.
