In 2009 the Fox Theatre began exploring ways to add additional lighting to the Egyptian Ballroom while preserving as much of the original ambience of the room as possible.
The Fox hired renowned lighting designer Dave Grill of Dave Grill Associates, and over the next several months the Fox Production and Restoration Departments along with Mr. Grill developed the project scope and began interviewing contractors.
Ultimately the Fox contracted Magnum Companies, an Atlanta based lighting and production company to perform the work. Working in concert with J&K Electrical and the Fox Restoration Department, The Magnum team headed by Operations Manager Brian Rehkopf and Project Manager Brannon Howell installed the new lighting system and all of its components. The project was completed in January of 2011.
These upgrades enhance the house lighting and highlight the breathtaking architectural accents of the Egyptian Ballroom. Guests will now experience an extensive range of lighting, from the most understated to a wide range of dramatic lighting settings to suit any event.
A few highlights of the new system are:
-Dimmable balcony ceiling and under-balcony lights, in addition to thirty-five, dimmable, recessed ceiling lights that illuminate the ballroom to any level of desired brightness.
-Adjustable color LED up-lights located around the Ballroom have an unlimited range of programmable color blends to choose from. These adjustable color uplights accent the architectural beauty of the room and enhance any decorative room setting.
-New lighting at Cove positions to light the stage and lectern positions.
-A DMX interface for clients who wish to create more complex lighting environments by bringing in an outboard controller that will have easy access to all of the Ballrooms lighting fixtures.
Through new, elegant house lighting and fixtures that showcases our breathtaking architecture, the magic of the Fox Theatre Egyptian Ballroom can now been experienced in a whole new light.
One of my favorite venues. I performed here with the Atlanta Boys Choir in my youth. An experience I will always...
